GROUP CLARINET LESSONS
Group clarinet lessons encourage students to play together, increasing confidence and fast-tracking learning. Lasting for 60 minutes pupils receive the same excellent standard of teaching as in individual lessons, playing familiar songs across many different styles. Three times a year we also stage showcases in which pupils have the opportunity to play live and show off what they have learned.
ADULT AND KIDS CLARINET LESSONS
Clarinet lessons for children are available from age 8 and up, with many adults also learning. For beginners we focus on playing familiar songs, learning scales and the basics of music theory using the Pro Music Tuition iPads. With this style of rounded education pupils learn correct techniques from the very start, and then can work towards taking exams if they wish. Individual lessons are available in 30 or 60 minute sessions.
Whatever age and whether learning through group or individual clarinet tuition we offer to train pupils for exams. Working towards a goal like this can help teach children to focus and the sense of achievement when passing grades is always a thrill. We work with several different syllabuses, including ABRSM, Trinity and Rockschool. If you have previously learned pieces for an exam elsewhere we can provide the exam for you (excluding ABRSM).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need an instrument?
No, we can provide everything for the lessons and resources for learning.
Is first music lesson is free?
Yes, we extend this so pupils can also try a taster in each instrument.
Do pupils learn to read music?
Yes, music theory is included in all lessons. We teach our pupils, note values, how to read music, and scales and how to approach sight-reading. This is important in knowing how to practice effectively. Tutors will also demonstrate what websites to use to brush up and improve on your music theory reading. With electric guitar, it would be TAB; with classical guitar it would be treble clef reading. We have over 900 pupils per week attend our premises. We start adults from novices or can take over from other existing teachers/music schools. We can start gradings or leisure play; Pro Music is very flexible with the times. We have many slots to suit adults who work shiftwork/home or even 9-to-5.
What are the benefits of music lessons for kids?
Builds language skills.
Many studies have shown that children who learn to play an instrument, become accustomed to various sounds that they would not have acknowledged before. This practice teaches their ears the subtle sounds of language.
It makes them academically stronger.
Links have been found between music lessons and nearly every measure of academic achievement: SAT scores, reading comprehension, and math skills. Music also improves their powers of recall for powerful learning in all subjects.
Numerous studies have proven that children’s IQs improve because of even a few weeks of music lessons. Brain scan technology indicates that brain activity improves following musical training, and some parts of the brain show greater plasticity.
It teaches discipline.
Music lessons require hours of concentration and patience. Children must persist even when things aren’t going well…an invaluable skill for all areas of life.
It supports muscle development and motor skills.
Children must use their entire bodies to maintain the rhythm when they play. They also must coordinate various movements with their hands at the same time. In doing so, they develop strength and coordination.
It improves social skills.
If children play in a group, they have to learn to work together to achieve a shared goal, exercising tolerance, patience, and encouragement towards their peers.
It makes kids feel good about themselves.
There’s nothing quite like the sense of pride that comes from working on a new skill, especially when the result is beautiful music.
It improves cultural awareness.
By learning music from various parts of the globe, students come to understand these cultures.
It brings happiness & joy.
And the most important reason of all. When children can play music, it makes them happy and everyone else too.

Is practising for 1 hour a day enough?
Amateur Adult: 1-2 hours daily. Many adult amateurs are extremely busy individuals who struggle to find even 15 minutes a day to practise! But in order to advance at a satisfying pace and get the most out of their piano study, an adult amateur student will ideally be able to dedicate at least an hour a day to practising.
Children: Again, there will be a direct correlation between time spent practising and advancement. Children and younger adults have the advantage of being able to learn faster, but we recommend 15 minutes a day of practice, or 30 to 45 if sitting exams.
Am I too old to learn how to play an instrument?
Learning a new skill as an adult is a great way to keep the mind active and young, studies have shown that it can even prevent cognitive decline as we age. Neuroplasticity allows your brain to create new pathways and neurons at any age. So, while it's true that children and young adults will pick up new skills faster, adults of any age can enjoy the multiple benefits of learning an instrument.
My 8 year old daughter Molly has been having piano lessons with Tom for around 6 weeks now and she loves it.
Every week she's so excited to go to her lesson and she made friends on day one.
Considering she only has a one hour lesson a week I was gobsmacked at how much she learns in the time she's there...I couldn't recommend this place enough!!
Had a free bass lesson with Tom last week online, I didn't expect it to work as well as it did.
Clear and enjoyable taster lesson, Tom is a good tutor as in he's clear with instruction and patient and he needs to be as I'm an older learner shall we say.
Looking forward to many more lessons to improve me as a Bass player. Cheers Tom.
My son Liam started with Pro Music last year and from the offset I knew it was the best decision we ever made. The tutors at Pro Music are incredibly talented musicians and his tutor Tom has a fantastic approach to teaching music. He keeps Liam focussed and encourages him to achieve his very best. Liam is 11 and already wants to become a music teacher, which makes me so proud and is all down to the dedication and hard work Pro Music instills into their pupils. I would highly recommend everyone to encourage their children to put down their xbox and learn to play an instrument and the only place I would consider is Pro Music, they are 100% the best by far and passionate about what they do.

My son has made fantastic progress since working with Tom on his drums, his first instrument was guitar, but now he had propelled forward and is motivated to learn at a quicker pace and a higher level on his drums. Tom is always looking forward, setting achievable targets that keep my son engaged and interested. We have been blown away at the quality of teaching we have seen and experienced. It is a cut above and gets excellent results. My only regret is that we didn’t start here sooner. Thankyou soooo much for all that the teachers do, particularly for preparing the kids for the exams in such a professional manner weeks ahead. We wholeheartedly recommend pro-music
