FLUTE Lessons SUTTON COLDFIELD

The flute is a popular woodwind instrument with children and adults alike. A versatile instrument, the flute is included in orchestras, jazz bands and many other types of music groups. As a relatively small and easy to maintain instrument the flute is perfect for the student looking to learn to play songs quickly. As with other woodwind instruments the flute also shares fingering and skills with other instruments in the woodwind family, and so learning the flute can lead to other opportunities.

ONLINE FLUTE LESSONS

Pro Music Tuition also offer online flute lessons available using Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp or Facebook. For times when getting to the studio isn’t possible online lessons are a perfect alternative and you can expect the same first class quality of teaching online as you can in person. ADULT AND KIDS FLUTE LESSONS

We teach the flute to children from the age of eight and up, with plenty of adults enjoying learning the instrument, too. The flute is an ideal instrument for beginners as students quickly progress from playing a few notes to performing songs. Our expert tutors make sure lesson plans are tailored to the individual student’s abilities and teach music theory and scales alongside playing pupil’s favourite songs.

Whatever age and whether learning through group or individual flute tuition we offer to train pupils for exams. Working towards a goal like this can help teach children to focus and the sense of achievement when passing grades is always a thrill. We work with several different syllabuses, including ABRSMTrinity and Rockschool. If you have previously learned pieces for an exam elsewhere we can provide the exam for you (excluding ABRSM).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need an instrument?

No, we can provide everything for the lessons and resources for learning.

Is first music lesson is free?

Yes, we extend this so pupils can also try a taster in each instrument.

Do pupils learn to read music?

Yes, music theory is included in all lessons. We teach our pupils, note values, how to read music, and scales and how to approach sight-reading. This is important in knowing how to practice effectively. Tutors will also demonstrate what websites to use to brush up and improve on your music theory reading. With electric guitar, it would be TAB; with classical guitar it would be treble clef reading. We have over 900 pupils per week attend our premises. We start adults from novices or can take over from other existing teachers/music schools. We can start gradings or leisure play; Pro Music is very flexible with the times. We have many slots to suit adults who work shiftwork/home or even 9-to-5.

What are the benefits of music lessons for kids?

Builds language skills.
Many studies have shown that children who learn to play an instrument, become accustomed to various sounds that they would not have acknowledged before. This practice teaches their ears the subtle sounds of language.

It makes them academically stronger.
Links have been found between music lessons and nearly every measure of academic achievement: SAT scores, reading comprehension, and math skills. Music also improves their powers of recall for powerful learning in all subjects.

IQ increase.
Numerous studies have proven that children’s IQs improve because of even a few weeks of music lessons. Brain scan technology indicates that brain activity improves following musical training, and some parts of the brain show greater plasticity.

It teaches discipline.
Music lessons require hours of concentration and patience. Children must persist even when things aren’t going well…an invaluable skill for all areas of life.

It supports muscle development and motor skills.
Children must use their entire bodies to maintain the rhythm when they play. They also must coordinate various movements with their hands at the same time. In doing so, they develop strength and coordination.

It improves social skills.
If children play in a group, they have to learn to work together to achieve a shared goal, exercising tolerance, patience, and encouragement towards their peers.

It makes kids feel good about themselves.
There’s nothing quite like the sense of pride that comes from working on a new skill, especially when the result is beautiful music.

It improves cultural awareness.
By learning music from various parts of the globe, students come to understand these cultures.

It brings happiness & joy.
And the most important reason of all. When children can play music, it makes them happy and everyone else too.

Can I learn to play an instrument within a band setting?

Yes, we offer band nights for children and adults - please email Pro Music for the next dates.

Can parents stay with their children?

No problem, just let Pro Music know by email or phone at 0121 559 3355 and we will reschedule the session. Please give Pro Music 24hrs notice so we juggle the timetable.

Will it help if I already play another instrument?

Yes, it will definitely help. A second instrument is always welcomed here at Pro Music some peoples even take 2 to 3 instruments per week. We can also discount when pupils want to take another instrument. Please give Pro Music a call we can give you advice on which to pick.

Is practising for 1 hour a day enough?

Amateur Adult: 1-2 hours daily. Many adult amateurs are extremely busy individuals who struggle to find even 15 minutes a day to practise! But in order to advance at a satisfying pace and get the most out of their piano study, an adult amateur student will ideally be able to dedicate at least an hour a day to practising.

Children: Again, there will be a direct correlation between time spent practising and advancement. Children and younger adults have the advantage of being able to learn faster, but we recommend 15 minutes a day of practice, or 30 to 45 if sitting exams.

Am I too old to learn how to play an instrument?

Learning a new skill as an adult is a great way to keep the mind active and young, studies have shown that it can even prevent cognitive decline as we age. Neuroplasticity allows your brain to create new pathways and neurons at any age. So, while it's true that children and young adults will pick up new skills faster, adults of any age can enjoy the multiple benefits of learning an instrument.

GROUP FLUTE LESSONS

We offer flute lessons in either a solo or group setting. Individual lessons are available in 30 and 60 minute formats and are an excellent way for pupils to focus on individual pieces, or for working towards exams. Our group lessons are 60 minutes in length and encourage pupils to learn and play music together and help to build self-confidence in a fun environment.

MUSIC LESSON REVIEWS

"My son has been attending Pro Music for 2 years and I can honestly say I would not go anywhere else. The tutors are fantastic, especially Tom. If you are trying to get your kids off the consoles into another positive interest, this is the place to go, they do a huge range of instruments so will definitely find something they are into. I also know older teens and adults who go to Pro Music for various different things including singing lessons and the feedback is excellent. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Emma Rushton

"Wow this music school is fantastic, my son has been having drum lessons with Andy, and I have to say he is amazing, so friendly, professional, and very patient, he's more like family because he has made my son feel relaxed and brought him out his shell. All through lockdown, he has continued to give him advice and carry on with his lesson online, he has just taken his grade 3.

Karen Winmill

"My children have lessons with Tom and Robin for piano and Andy for bass and they all REALLY enjoy their lessons. The teachers have a love for their music, they tailor their lessons for the children, they treat them as intelligent human beings, they also are very helpful and informative to parents. I cannot praise them enough :-)"

Rachel Cunningham-Day

"Laura who is the piano teacher at Pro Music Cradley is amazing. My daughter had started taking piano lessons from her since last September and what a success that has been. My D who is 4 years old has learned so much. Laura not only teaches the child to play the piano but the way she teaches it is amazing. Her lessons are engaging and playful enough for a child that they remember and learn and built from there. Would highly recommend her."

Sabeen Khalid

"My daughter has been having lessons here now for over a year. It's a great music school. Leeming is her teacher and she is just fantastic, so friendly and helpful. The lessons are always fun, and she always keeps her engaged. She's always willing to accommodate wherever she can. My daughter started as a beginner, and she has gone from strength to strength. She really looks forward to her lesson every week. I would highly recommend it to anyone!"

Louise Mills

"My daughter has been having keyboard lessons for a year now. In this time I have seen her grow greatly in confidence and ability. Leeming has been absolutely wonderful in supporting her and teaching her. Would 100% recommend pro music and Leeming to anybody who wants to learn to play the keyboard.!

Faye Darby

"Li Ming. The piano teacher is a wonderful, kind teacher. My son loves going to class and gets fully engaged, he loves practising new pieces and (if he could) be learning all day."

Darren Cowley

"My son and daughter have both had lessons at ProMusic for about 3 years now and both have come on leaps and bounds! My daughter recently did her grade 2 piano with Leeming Hoey and got a Merit! She loves her lessons with Lee, she's so friendly and encouraging and has built up a great relationship with my daughter. My daughter really enjoys coming to her lessons.
My son has guitar lessons with Dave Phillips and he's about to do his grade 2 exam also. His confidence has grown massively, as well as his willingness to practice at home, something we've always struggled with. He's even recently joined a guitar ensemble at school. Both teachers are great, and I'm a very proud mum that both are doing so well 😁"
